How We Help with Chronic Fatigue

Gentle, precise upper cervical care in SoHo, Astoria and Massapequa.

Exhausted no matter how much you rest?

You sleep, you cut back, you try to pace yourself, and the tiredness is still there. Chronic fatigue can take over your work, your family time and your sense of who you are. Our doctors in SoHo, Astoria and Massapequa take a gentle, careful look at the top of your neck, in case strain there is adding to the load your body is carrying.

What is chronic fatigue?

Chronic fatigue means tiredness that lasts for months and does not clear up with rest. When it comes with other symptoms, a doctor may call it chronic fatigue syndrome, or ME/CFS. Even a small amount of activity can leave you wiped out for a day or more. Because many conditions cause fatigue, it is important to have a medical doctor check for other causes first.

Common signs include:

  • Deep tiredness that rest does not relieve
  • Feeling worn out after light activity
  • Sleep that does not feel refreshing
  • Trouble with memory and concentration
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness when you stand
  • Muscle aches, joint aches or headaches
  • A viral illness that was followed by months of tiredness
  • Sleep problems, including sleep apnea
  • Anemia, thyroid problems or low vitamin levels
  • Long-term stress, worry or low mood
  • Pain that keeps the body on alert
  • A head or neck injury, such as whiplash or a concussion

What causes chronic fatigue?

There is rarely one answer and the cause is not fully understood, so doctors look at several possibilities, including:

Upper cervical chiropractors pay close attention to the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) at the top of the neck, because strain there can linger after an injury and may add to the load your body carries every day.

How upper cervical care can help

When you are tired for months, it can feel as if your body is working harder than it should just to get through the day. Upper cervical care looks for a small misalignment at the top of the spine that may be adding to that load. A gentle, precise adjustment aims to ease strain at the top of the neck, so your body has one less thing to work around.

The aim is to support your body’s own ability to rest and recover, not to push you through the fatigue. Everyone responds differently, and we cannot promise a result. Chronic fatigue can have medical causes, so we encourage you to keep your medical doctor involved and to share your exam findings with them.

  • Gentle when you are depleted

When you are already running on empty, gentle matters. Our adjustments ask very little of you, with no twisting or cracking, and nothing is asked of you beyond relaxing.

  • Old neck injuries

A past whiplash, fall or concussion can leave the top of the neck out of line, sometimes with little pain. We look for that kind of hidden strain as one possible piece of the picture.

  • Checking the bigger picture

Neurological testing and muscle assessments help show whether your nervous system is under strain. If anything looks like it needs a medical workup, we will tell you plainly.

  • Gradual, not instant

Energy is not a switch. Recovery from long-term fatigue tends to be gradual, so we look for small, steady changes in how rested you feel.
