What We Offer

How We Help with High Blood Pressure

Gentle, precise upper cervical care in SoHo, Astoria and Massapequa.

Watching your blood pressure numbers closely?

High blood pressure often has no warning signs, so the numbers matter. You may be taking medication, changing your diet and trying to manage stress, and still wonder what else might help you feel more at ease. At our offices in SoHo, Astoria and Massapequa, gentle upper cervical care focuses on neck tension, posture and comfort, always alongside your medical care.

What is high blood pressure?

Blood pressure is the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. When it stays too high, the heart and blood vessels work harder, which over time can raise the risk of heart and kidney problems and stroke. Because it usually causes no symptoms, you can feel perfectly well and still have high readings.

Chest pain, a sudden severe headache, trouble breathing or changes in your vision, especially with high readings, need emergency care. Call 911.

Signs to know about:

  • Usually no signs at all, even when readings are high
  • Very high readings can cause a severe headache, nosebleeds, chest pain or vision changes, so get urgent care
  • Checks at a doctor’s office or pharmacy are the only reliable way to know your numbers
  • Readings can shift with stress, poor sleep, salty food and some medicines
  • Your doctor can tell you what target is right for you
  • Family history and getting older
  • Eating a lot of salty or highly processed food
  • Being less active or carrying extra weight
  • Long-term stress and poor sleep
  • Smoking and heavy alcohol use
  • Kidney, thyroid or hormone conditions, and some medications

What causes high blood pressure?

In most adults there is no single cause, and high blood pressure tends to build up over time from a mix of things, including:

Stress and physical tension often go together. Upper cervical chiropractors look closely at the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) to see whether strain at the top of the neck is adding to the tension your body carries from day to day.

How upper cervical care can help

We want to be clear about what upper cervical care is and is not. It is not a way to lower your blood pressure, and it is not a replacement for medication, diet changes or your doctor’s advice. What we look for is a misalignment at the top of the neck that may be adding to the tension your body carries. A gentle adjustment aims to ease that strain and support your comfort.

Please keep seeing your medical doctor, keep checking your blood pressure as advised, and never stop or change a medication without talking to the doctor who prescribed it. Tell us about your medications and recent readings so your care can be planned with the whole picture in mind. Our goal is to support your comfort and overall well-being alongside your medical care.

  • Honest about our role

We make no promise about your readings. Our role is to support your comfort and overall well-being while your doctor manages your blood pressure.

  • The upper neck, up close

Old whiplash, falls and poor posture can leave the atlas and axis out of position. 3D imaging of the neck shows how they are sitting, so care is based on what is really there.

  • Easing stress-related tension

Stress, tight shoulders and a stiff neck often go together. Easing strain at the top of the neck is one way we aim to help your body feel more at ease.

  • Careful with your health history

If you take blood thinners or other medicine, tell us. Our adjustments use light pressure and never forceful twisting, and your care is planned around your health.
